Dog-Friendly Dia de los Muertos at The Barnacle Historic State Park

November 1 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Dog-Friendly Dia de los Muertos Community Altar in Coconut Grove

You and your dogs are invited to a dog-friendly Dia de los Muertos community altar in Coconut Grove! Join us Sunday, November 1st, as Gueyita Mexicana and Equipaws Pet Services host a special night to honor and love the pets we’ve lost in this beautiful tradition. We will be bringing photographs of our own beloved pets whom we’ve lost in the last year. Be a part of the altar! Add your pet’s photograph and name to it during the ceremony. Woofgang Dadeland will be providing treats for all the pups who attend!
⁣Bring your pups to the Grove! The altar will be set up at the front of The Historic Barnacle State Park in Coconut Grove, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. ⁣Let’s share our memories through this community altar over light bites and drinks. ⁣

About the Dia de los Muertos Tradition:

El Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an important holiday in Mexico for remembering deceased loved ones. Mexican families welcome the souls of their deceased loved ones back for a loving reunion.
Our beloved pets arrive to visit us first on October 27th. They stay with us through November 2nd, the big day when they celebrate with skull parades, ofrendas, altares, and lots of food and music. By November 3rd, we remove the altars.⁣
⁣⁣We’re grateful to Adriana of Gueyita Mexicana for sharing her culture’s traditions! She’ll bring pan de muerto for us to share, and we’ll bring Mexican-style hot chocolate.
We’ve been walking dogs and taking care of pets since 2011. We’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of pet parents raise their dogs, cats, birds, and even frogs… and we’ve also supported them through their losses. Sharing a moment with them at this community altar is incredibly special. It’s a time to reflect on how much we loved our pets, all of the good memories we had, and to shed tears if we need to.  Whatever you need from this experience, you will be surrounded by pet parents who understand the grief of losing your most beloved family members. We hope to see you.
