Celebrating Vet Techs in Miami: Vet Tech Appreciation Week Oct 16 â Oct 22
October 16-22 is Vet Tech Appreciation Week! Â The National Association of Veterinary Technicians of America began this week of gratitude in 1993, which takes place annually every third week in October. Â On behalf of the Equipaws team, thank you to all of the vet techs working hard around the world!
Who is your Vet Tech?
When you walk into your local Veterinary Practice, typically the first people you see are a receptionist, office manager, or a Veterinary Technician. Vet techs take care of the front office and welcome you with a warm smile, usually taking the weight of your pet, checking vitals, and briefing you on Spotâs appointment.
What do Vet Techs do?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the role a Veterinary Technician plays, âthey have been educated in the care and handling of animals, the basic principles of normal and abnormal life processes, and in many laboratory and clinical procedures.â Comparable to a nurse in a physicianâs office, they assist your vet and caring for your fur baby. Our own pups know and love their vet techs at their veterinarianâs office; they are present to hold them and comfort them during their dreaded shots, and to give a treat and belly rubs after.
Vet Techs assist your petâs doctor with the following:
- Specialized nursing care
- Preparing animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery
- Perform diagnostic and medical procedures
- Administer and monitoring anesthesia
- Assist in surgical procedure
Many clients are unaware of their importance and how these caring individuals are an essential part of the animal care process and their welfare. After seeing this list of responsibilities, Vet techs are obviously a crucial part of any practice and team. Please note vet techs always work under the licensed supervision of a Veterinarian.
Celebrating Vet Techs in Miami
Equipaws is celebrating their commitment and compassion they give every day to our special clients. Â We work with most animal hospitals and veterinary practices from Downtown, Brickell to Cutler Bay and many neighborhoods in between. As a little treat and ticket of our appreciation our team is baking over 400 cupcakes for our esteemed local vet techs in our service areas! Our staff will be delivering chocolate and vanilla delicious and delectable morsels all week to celebrate! We hope our vet techs appreciate these goodies as much as we recognize their tremendous care!
Decorated with Equipaws colors and love, we are sending our friendship and appreciation to your vet techs this week. A big thank you from Equipaws Pet Services to all of our local Veterinary Offices and Vet Technicians! Please thank your own vet techs the next time you see them!
