Miami has numerous festivals and activities that celebrate Halloween. With so many fun events and costume contests leading up to Halloween, our social media feed has been full of announcements for canine costume contests such as the Costume Yappy Hour at the Spillover in Coconut Grove on Thursday October 27th, and Paws4You’s 6th Annual Howl-O-Ween at Pinecrest Gardens on Sunday, October 30th.
Being involved in the pet industry and animal world for some time, we have seen a variety of pet costumes. From the cute dachshund dressed as a hot dog to a golden retriever dressed with a lion’s mane, we have seen it all! Our team was on the search for fresh new trends and the latest and most creative way to deck out our pets and found PetPaint, colored hairspray for your pup!

After scouring the Internet for the surefire costume to receive the most “oohs and aahs,” we came across a product called PetPaint. It’s a veterinary-tested and dog-safe hairspray that comes in a variety of colors and is easy to apply (it’s an aerosol that takes anywhere from ten seconds to two minutes to dry) and washes off easily with a regular shampoo.

Not only does PetPaint provide colored spray, but they have stencils dedicated to holidays and occasions. For example, in honor of Christmas, the company provides stencils of candy canes, Christmas trees, snowflakes and reindeer to decorate your dog. In addition, the company sells Swarovski jewels and extensions for doggy dazzling.
PetPaint Reviews: Is It Right for Your Pup?
While we have not had the chance to use it ourselves, we did check out many reviews on Amazon. The consensus was an overall good product with true color. Some did find their dog was afraid of the spray and noise, so if you have a shy pup who scares easily you’ll want to use their pet jewels instead (yes, they are adorable). Others said the color fades quickly; however, PetPaints was forthcoming on their site, saying it lasts about a day. For a short holiday weekend, it seems like a simple, innovative and enjoyable way to dress up your pup!
