Edwin wanted to contribute to something he loves when he retired from thirty years of building a professional life. His wife suggested he look for an opportunity to help animals, since he has loved them from childhood. When retirement arrived, Edwin directed that lifelong devotion to helping animals. He began volunteering with Miami-Dade Animal Services, where he found genuine joy in walking the dogs and offering them the care and attention they deserved. It was there that his path led him to Equipaws, a natural and rewarding addition to his next chapter. Edwin is drawn to the unconditional bond between people and animals, and he finds deep meaning in showing up for them every single day.
Growing up, he was consistently surrounded by pets (like most of us at Equipaws!), and he continued rescuing them into adulthood. He even has a history of bringing home stray animals to rehabilitate and help find a loving home, and has also been known to bring home eggs in need of incubating to help them hatch. Edwin has always demonstrated love and unwavering commitment to every living creature he encounters. The best way to sum up his love of animals is to look at who runs his house… Olive and Roxy, his beloved rescue mutts!
Edwin also gives his time to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and supports organizations like the ASPCA, Humane World for Animals, and other local animal shelters. When he’s not caring for pets, he can be found exploring the natural world and traveling to new places that feed his love of the outdoors.
